Training Your Dog

Let me begin by stating a few facts
ALL dogs should be trained at the very least to a basic level of obedience.
ALL dogs that are going to venture inside should be housetrained.
ALL dogs should be socialised at an early age to get them accustomed to the world they share with mankind.
ALL dogs should be taught from day ONE that they enter your household, who is pack leader...a PERSON, who is next in line...any other PEOPLE and who is the very last in line....THE DOG.

Do any of those facts make you wince? Do any of those facts make you think I am heartless? I do hope not. Simply put, they are the four main reasons that I attend private dog behaviour visits to help distraught owners with. Unlike some trainers/behaviourists, I do not charge a fortune to help owners put right what they have got wrong in the past. Most of the time I barely cover my costs. I do this because of my love of dogs rather than a need to meet lots of people. Things DO go wrong though and if you feel you need help with your dog, please click the "Help" button on the left. Problems rarely go away on their own and I have heard most of them before so don't think you need to be embarrassed.

It is my greatest hope that the pages contained within this section will help you and your dog have a long and happy life together. If just ONE dog and owner have a fantastic lifetime together as a result of these pages then the hours spent writing them will have all been worthwhile.
