Tara is a star.

Tara came to us quite by accident when Bev found her tied to a tree at our local supermarket car park. Some ******* obviously thought that this was the way to lose an unwanted dog!!

We took Tara in initially for a one night stay, but she grew on us and she's still with us almost 8 years later!! She had no housetraining, was as thin as a rake handle and was just looking for somewhere to call home.

Tara took a lot of hard work to housetrain as her previous owners had obviously spent almost no time training her the etiquette of living in a house. It took me over 3 weeks to get her into the idea that "this is home and we don't do THAT in here, we ask to go out". Eventually though she learned and she settled in well with Athene my GSD. Despite it being very obvious to us that Tara's early days had not been easy, she soon became an integral part of our lives. Although I am as bonkers as I am over the GSD, Tara to me is as close to one without actually being one as you can get. She is intelligent, loyal and will bark a warning at anyone that appears to be up to no good.

I owe Tara my sanity as she was there when I lost Athene and thanks to her, I had somewhere to redirect my love of dogs and thus ease the pain of losing Athene just a little. There is little substitute for the kindness of family and friends when you lose a dog after years of being together and mine were all fantastic. Having Tara there however made the whole thing far more bearable than if I had been left with no dog at all.

Tara has a number of especially endearing qualities and traits. Fantastic temperament.
She can fart for England (always worth remembering when you want to blame the dog).
She will ask for a cup of tea by nudging your cup when you are trying to drink yours.
You never miss a doggy mealtime with Tara around. She reminds you constantly from about 30 minutes before it's actually time.
